![]() Man and horse´s destinies are unseparable. The horse has been known and admired as valuable to man, as well as for its relevant contribution to the development of the human kind. In our days, horses have been largely noticed for their role as agents on the rehabilitation process of people with disabilities or those with special needs. The ones who practiceTherapeutic Riding may reach a state of union to their horses that will enable them to act as a unity, by stablishing a sincere and harmonic relationship between both, with the afectivity and trust that will certainly grow along. The willing to research and to find new solutions has made possible to develop activities which have lead to the improvement on the quality of life of the special people. Up to now, the FRDI- The Federation of Riding for the Disabled International has accomplished eleven international congresses, which turned out to be very successful for the development of the therapeutic riding. They were: 1974 - Paris (France) . Theme: Re- education through Riding. 1976 - Basel (Swiss) . Theme: Rehabilitation through Riding. 1979 - Warwick (U.K) . Main Focus: Riding as a Sport for the Disabled. 1982 - Hamburg (Germany) . Main Focus: A General View Over the International Situation. 1985 - Milan (Italy) . Theme: Therapeutic Riding for Rehabilitation. 1988 - Toronto (Canada) . Main Focus: Researches and Findings. 1991 - Aarhus (Denmark) . Main Focus: The official Name of the FRDI. 1994 - Hamilton (New Zealand) . Main Focus: The Development on the Education and Psychology Areas. 1997 - Denver (USA) . Theme: Riding the Winds of Progress. 2000 - Angers (France) . Theme: Horses and Differences. 2003 - Budapest (Hungary) . Theme: The Complex Influences of TherapeuticRiding.
